 The birth of chickens 

The world is full of the signs of God’s existence. Wherever you look, you will find at least one of the signs of God. The Sun which lights the Earth, like a huge lamp, is one of the signs of God. The trees which give us colourful fruits are some of the signs of God. Thunder and lightning are other signs of God’s existence. The birds which fly in the sky are all signs of God. It is as if all of them are saying, “it is the God who has created us.”

You can see God’s skill in His creation by looking at the birth of little chickens. You know that the chickens hatch from the eggs. Hens sit on the eggs for a period of 21 days and after that, chicks are formed inside the eggs. When the chicks body has developed completely, it breaks the eggshell and comes out of the egg by itself. 

One day, one of the disbelievers came to Imam Sadiq (a.s) to talk to him about God. The son of Imam Sadiq (a.s) had an egg in his hands and was playing with it. Imam Sadiq (a.s) took that egg from his son and said to the disbeliever, “This egg is like a closed room. It has a hard shell and under that shell is a weaker shell. Inside this egg, there is yolk and albumen which never mix. No hand ever enters the egg to create a chick. But colourful chick hatches from this very egg. Who brings this beautiful chick into existence inside the egg?”

From these words of Imam Sadiq (a.s), the disbeliever understood that God exists and became a Muslim.
